Weight loss and cravings case study

Chocolate Cravings and Weight Loss -

Lucy, Hove

07/02/09

Lucy struggled not to eat her favourite chocolate bar on the way to the session. She couldn’t look at the wrapper without feeling as if she wanted to eat it. We tapped on her immediate cravings about wanting to eat the chocolate bar. She immediately felt a shift and didn’t want the chocolate bar.

She said that chocolate had been her secret addiction. She remembered going to her room and eating chocolate in private there. We tapped on this issue.

She said that her mother controlled her sweet intake as a child, now can eat when and where she likes.

She said that she felt anxious at the core of her being and said that she had a gaping hole in top of stomach – circular, hollow, balloon that needs deflating. She said that the gaping hole that she was trying to fill by could never be filled because it should have been filled with love.

Lucy looked at the chocolate bar and didn’t want to open it now.

She said her mother didn’t believe in her. She said that her mother cared for her brother but left her to defend for herself which she resented. Her mother couldn’t see how much she needed help. We tapped on this and she said that she could see that her mother was only doing what she thought was best – she meant well but gave out misguided advice.

She said she had a meeting in work where she is work rep and she was afraid of standing up for herself. We tapped on another victim memory from her and she said she felt much stronger.

Update – 16/02/09

Lucy felt strong at her work meeting. She no longer has a craving for chocolate. She’s lost 7 pounds in weight without dieting.
